Three ways to make text smaller
Tiny (superscript)
Letters raised and shrunk like footnote marks: ʰᵉˡˡᵒ. This is the smallest style and the one most people mean by "tiny text".
Small caps
Capital letter shapes at lowercase height: ʜᴇʟʟᴏ. It looks neat and minimal rather than tiny, and reads well in bios.
Clean sans and typewriter
Not smaller, but lighter and quieter than bold styles, useful when you want text to step back.
Missing letters
Unicode has no superscript for every letter. There's no standard small "q", so the generator uses the closest look-alike (ᑫ), and capital letters are converted to lowercase superscripts. Small caps is missing a true "q" and "x" for the same reason. That's a limit of Unicode, not the tool.
Where tiny text is handy
- A quiet sign-off at the end of a caption: ˡᵒᵛᵉ, ᵐᵃʸᵃ
- Asides and jokes in messages: ⁱ ʷᵃˢ ʳⁱᵍʰᵗ ᵗʰᵒ
- Labels under a name in a bio or Highlights cover
Questions
How do I make my text small on Instagram or Discord?
Type your text above, copy the Tiny or Small caps style, and paste it. Instagram has no text size option for bios, so this is the usual workaround.
Why are some tiny letters different?
Unicode doesn't include a superscript version of every letter, so a few use the closest look-alike character.
Can I make tiny numbers?
Yes. Tiny text converts 0–9 to superscript digits like ¹²³, along with + − = ( ).
