Two kinds of cursive
Cursive (light script)
Thin, looping letters like ๐ฝ๐ถ๐๐น๐๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐. It reads as delicate and personal, and suits names, signatures and short quotes.
Bold cursive
Heavier strokes like ๐ฑ๐ช๐ท๐ญ๐๐ป๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ท๐ฐ. It stays readable at small sizes, so it works better in profile names and on smaller screens.
Where cursive text works
- Instagram and TikTok bios: style one line, such as your name or a short motto. See the Instagram fonts page for bio tips.
- Display names: Discord nicknames, TikTok and X display names accept cursive. @usernames don't.
- Captions and messages: a cursive sign-off ("๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ฝ") stands out without being loud.
Why some letters look different
Unicode's light script alphabet was built for math, and a few letters (B, E, F, H, I, L, M, R, e, g, o) were taken from an older symbol set, so their shape can differ slightly from the rest. Bold cursive doesn't have this problem, which is why it looks more even.
Not for documentsFor a wedding invitation, certificate or printed card, install a real script font like Great Vibes or Allura instead. Pasted Unicode cursive is meant for screens and apps.
Questions
How do I type in cursive on my phone?
Type your text above, tap Copy on the cursive style you like, then paste it into any app. There's nothing to install.
Does cursive text work on Instagram?
Yes. It works in your bio, display name, captions, comments and Stories. Usernames only accept plain letters.
Why don't numbers turn cursive?
Unicode has no cursive digits. In bold cursive, numbers become bold instead, and in light cursive they stay plain.
